The Sausage Fly is a large male ant whose body is swollen with sperm until it looks like a sausage. The term was first applied to African ants, but is used here to refer to large male Legionary Ants. This one is a Neivamyrmex species. If the male encounters drones of its species, they will rip off his wings and take him to a virgin female, where he breeds and dies happy. Seen at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Formicid.
